So much has happened in the last weeks. Even more will be happening in the coming months.

Honor Chorus: The Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grade tried out for District Seven Honor Chorus September 23rd.

Fall Concert: The Seventh grade and Eighth grade performed a brilliant concert on the fifth of October. Please leave comments on this website if you were singing in the concert or if you were just there to see and hear the wonderful time.

All State First Audition: After two whole months of training, the first All State audition were held on October 16th. While we don't know if any students from Bay Springs will be attending this years All State, we can be sure the small community of singers represented Bay Springs very well. I'll let you know the results as soon as I get them.

Fund Raiser: Thank you all for your support during the fund raiser these last two weeks. Every dollar raised will help benefit chorus. The students and I both agree that replacing the chorus uniform is a priority. However, I would like to setup a fund to help future students pay for out of school choir opportunities like honor chorus or chorus trips.

Chick Fil A Night: Bay Springs will be performing at a Chick FIl A spirit night Nov. 9th. Our night starts at 5 pm, and I need everyone to come out and have a nice Chick FIl A dinner to help the chorus.

O' Charlies Fines Arts Night: I don't have all of the details for this event, but this is another venue where our Bay Springs singers can perform and the chorus and band will be able to raises funds.

Sorry everyone for not updating this site more these last couple weeks. Between school starting back, my computer that I've had working perfectly for four years messing up, and personal life I just haven't been able to update the site. This weekend I hope to find sometime to update and post content that you need to know. Thank you for using the site.

First Week

Parents and Students,

We had a great first week in chorus. 6th grade parents, I fixed the link on the website and please fill out the form one more time.

6th grade chorus and 7th grade beginning chorus: Learning about rhythm and learning about voices. There are some very strong voices in chorus. I can't wait to hear them perform in a concert.

7th advanced: WOW!!! This class has shocked me. We have already been sight reading our first song and finished mapping out voices for the first concert. I am very happy with all the students, but most impressed with the guys in 7th grade. I have some awesome guy singers. On Thursday, in ten minutes the students wrote down solfeggi syllables in the music, (do, re, mi) we checked them as a class, I read the music with them as a guide, and then I pushed them to read a difficult passage without my aid. On the first try the entire class completed the entire page. Great job people.

8th advanced: WOW!!! I have waited for a class like this for four years. We have been blazing through all the assignments with skill. We voiced all students and are well balanced. The guys have really impressed me even in this first week. We have sight read and started looking at the new music. On Wednesday, I taught the students an ending to a song in less then five minutes. It was in two parts and well harmonized by the students.

Open House

It was so good to see my students last night. Thank you to all the parents who stopped by to show there support for Chorus. I am so proud to be a part of your students life through music making.

I have big plans for this year, and I'm going to need parent support more than ever.

More invovlment with Honor Choirs
More Fundraising outside of school
Possible update to the formal uniform
More outside concerts
Publisising through Newspaper and online the great work we do in and outside of class

Any student who has attended an honor chorus knows how much fun they are and how special they feel after the concert has been sung. I hope to give more students a chance to perform in honor choirs this year.

These are tough finacial times. Here are a few reasons we need to raise money for Chorus. The chorus can't sing songs without buying the music. The chorus also need to upgrade or replace the current risers that have seen over ten years of students. Chorus would also like to help families who are having trouble paying for honor choir hotels. (help not pay for) Chorus would benefit from more formal looking uniforms.

The uniforms we have are wonderful and they represent the school well when we go out in public. However, there are more formal uniforms which would make a greater impact in the outside community.

I would like to take the chorus to more festivals. The chorus should sing at venues outside of school, but with limited time and resources, it is hard for me to learn about places we could sing and then follow up with those places.

Parents please send me pictures or video (electronically please) of our concerts or performances outside of school. I need to start publishing what chorus does in the local newspaper and on the school website.

This year's focus will be on performing and getting Bay Springs name out in the community. We do great work here and the community should know.

ACDA Honor Chorus

I was so proud of all of my students. It was truly an honor sitting in the audience as the choir sang. You represented Bay Springs and your families so well. The singing was so beautiful. You learned so much in just two days.

Special mention has to go to Allison Lee, Bay Sping's solo singer in "Will There Really Be a Morning?"

A special thank you to the parents that put in all the effort to make this summer a memorable experience.

I hope this was enjoyable for you all as well.

Six Days left

With six days until the summer chorus we are looking in good shape.

Students spend time listening to Sound the trumpet once I post the file and practice the other songs as well.

Parents let me know what you all have worked out in the hotel business.

I added soprano learning files and the youtube videos are still posted.

You can also download the files by right clicking and saving them to your computer.

Parents I added a forum page under the members page to talk about the hotel arrangements.

Remember once your sign in the members page only members can see what you post.
